Antitrust and Dual Membership

As the organization expanded internationally, it also expanded domestically, though not entirely by choice. Throughout the early 1970s, NBI was embroiled in an antitrust lawsuit brought by a bank that was both a member of NBI and Interbank. The case posed a question regarding this new type of organization that had no obvious answer: should banks be allowed to join multiple bankcard systems? Since the member banks actually own and govern these systems, would this lead to more or less competition?8
